AGS is the country’s most prestigious jewelry trade organization, and only 5% of US jewelers are accredited for membership due to its strict standards. “The American Gem Society was established back in 1934 to make it both easier and safer for consumers to purchase jewelry confidently,” she explains. “To do so, each member organization has to demonstrate every year that they’re at the top of their game in pledging to protect the consumer, maintaining ethical business practices and developing and maintaining superior gemological skills and knowledge through lifelong, ongoing education and annual recertification.”

Alexis brings second-generation expertise after growing up in her family’s jewelry business as the daughter of Padis Jewelry’s founders Steve and Judy Padis. She earned her MBA from Pepperdine University and now runs the day-to-day operations of the San Francisco landmark jeweler opened in 1974.
